Haemovigilance: current practices and future developments

: Haemovigilance is the systematic surveillance of adverse events in transfusion chain, and encompasses activities that contribute to safety quality process blood donation transfusion. From start early 1990s, haemovigilance has put emphasis on different reactions incidents recipients subsequently donors, pointing vulnerabilities chain areas for prevention. More recently, monitoring efficacy efficiency practice been introduced concept haemovigilance. The purpose this review present an overview current status future developments part systems collection establishments, laboratories institutions. monitoring, investigation analysis generates relevant data cycle these systems, driving continuous improvement practice. Recommendations based findings have led changes clinical guidelines policies. Despite progress made, further are needed.
